When you try to come out twice and fail, then get your friend to tell your mum for attempt no 3 and she still doesn’t want to know and makes your dad ring you up later to tell you to basically shut up, ‘because she feels like she is supposed to know your are but she really doesn’t want to know, so please don’t talk about it again, but she wants you to know it’s always nice to see you’ …it’s a weird feeling…like each time u get worked up for the big fallout and shock factor like when it was revealed i was gay…but then it just never comes and its like we havent even spoken…
I’m sorry for ruining your innocence mum…

I sometimes wonder if the study of the “real lives” of people who do sex work is just a desire to further possess us - to take the fantasy past that which we have provided the consumer. Sites like SuicideGirls and other amateur scenes where the driving idea is that we are “real” people who interact with a community, talk about our lives, etc., are all about blurring the line between fantasy and reality. It’s not about wanting to know who we “really are” so much as it is about being able to imagine that we are “genuinely” attainable. — Leigh Holt Marchione on her Facebook (via marginalutilite)
In many ways the trick to all this is that i just dont care any more. And in other ways the trick is that ive come to care more deeply than i ever before did. And my caring has always run deep.
SEX WORKER PROBLEMS: Not all my problems are sex worker problems... -
But to the rest of the world, they seem that way.
I suffer from chronic mental illness. I can’t seem to have a functional relationship. I only like people who are emotionally distant—attracted to me, fond of me, but never willing to commit to me, or feel something deeper.
And you know what gets…

Support a Sex Worker and Rape Survivor’s Legal Battle - please reblog and spread far and wide!
I’m Ruby - a sex worker of 7 years from Melbourne. I’ve been involved with Vixen as well as organising the inaugural Festival of Sex Work.
About 3 years ago I was raped by a…
THE ATTORNEY-General says a Court of Appeal decision allowing a Moranbah motel’s appeal against a sex worker is “a win for business and common sense”.I still cannot believe the government amended legislation to legalise something the court of appeal had deemed to be a discriminatory act.
Plenty of people work from hotel/motel rooms. To give establishments the power to kick someone out based soley on their work isn’t right.
Until I see people being escorted out with their laptops because they shouldn’t be working on their work trips, this is all just a big ideologically-driven joke.

Sisters Inside Inc comes out against sex work -
Sisters Inside, the Queensland women’s prison abolition organisation, has recently made a number of posts on their facebook page promoting “prostitution abolition” groups and referring people to the writings of Sheila Jeffreys (well known Australian radical feminist, anti-sex work and anti-trans).
Very disappointing and heartbreaking to see that what I thought was such a radical and amazing organisation is actually promoting this crap.
they have deleted some of the offending posts now but have still stood by their idea that they are sex work abolitionist and pro-swedish model style laws. Apparently any sex worker who complains about this is guilty of ‘violence against women’ Apparently its violence now if we are angry and dare to voice this anger when people are campaigning to take away our jobs, criminalize our families, take away our kids, criminalize people who rent us our houses and thus make us more likely to be homeless or pay increased rent, deport more migrant women and charge our own children or collegues who are percieved by the legal system to be men (in reality some trans women and men) with pimping and client charges…
what can i say… i am glad i have lots of weed right now…

you can repeatedly stab and rape sex workers (without conviction), but if you’re rich you can totally buy the legal process. he has melbourne’s best criminal defense lawyer. her strategy is to do everything she can to break you down so it won’t go to trial. but i am going to do everything i can to make sure this motherfucker goes through as much hell as i can possibly make him go through, for me and for every other sex worker he has violated. i’ve come this far so i may as well just push through.
thinking of you! urghh these slimy slimy people…
